There are a total of 55 billionaires from India on the list of 1,426 persons from across the world having a minimum net worth of $1 billion. The List was released in March 3012.
In the overall rich list of world’s billionaires, as per the annual ranking published by business magazine Forbes, Mukesh Ambani is ranked 22nd. The senior Ambani is on the top of the list for the sixth time in a row with a net worth of $21.5 billion.
Mr. Mittal is at 41st position in the overall rich list of world’s billionaires. Steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal is second on the Indian list even as shares of ArcelorMittal have been under pressure on rising input costs and a fall in demand from Europe.
The Other Indians who have appeared in the list are; Azim Premji, the founder of Wipro with a net worth of $11.2 billion even though shares of the IT company remained flat on concerns over outsourcing.
Dilip Shanghvi, the founder and managing director of Sun Pharmaceutical with a value of $9.4 billion.
Shashi and Ravi Ruia of the multinational conglomerate Essar Group come next with a combined net worth of $8.5 billion.
One of the youngest billionaires in India, Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of the Aditya Birla Group.
Savitri Jindal, mother of Sajjan Jindal and chairperson of the OP Jindal Group, is the richest woman in India, according to the Forbes list.
